Nothing can be more stunning, calming and peaceful than watching the sun rise in the morning. Add a backdrop of  breathtaking scenery and this visual experience becomes incomparable.

Haleakala National Park, Hawaii, USA

Getting up in the early hours of the morning to board a bus to Haleakala National Park in Hawaii is absolutely worth it to watch the sun rising above the clouds, on top of a volcano. There are various tours through the park in Maui. Visitors are picked up at 3am and dropped off to see the sunrise from the summit. The early morning travel time is worth this spectacular view.

Yasawas, Fiji

If you want to be one of the first people in the world to see the sun rise then you can get the front row seats in Fiji in the South Pacific. It is on the 180 degree longitude line and the first place on earth where the dawn breaks every day. The peaceful atmosphere from the summit of Waya Lailai Island in the Yasawas will give you a view that is worth the early walk up the mountain. You could then follow this up by exploring your surroundings and round the day off with a bit of diving and snorkeling.

The sun rising in Svalbard Norway seems to have a magical charm for visitors. The northernmost part is a wonderland of icebergs, glaciers, polar bears, whales and reindeer. During winter it is plunged into darkness but in summer the sun can be seen for 24 hours a day. It creates the most beautiful colors in the glacier air.
